The Outcome Based Assessment (OBA) is the new approach being used by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Nurses and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA) to evaluate the competence and skills of Internationally Qualified Nurses.

The assessment includes:

  • Assessment of cognitive component by administering multiple choice questions also known as Next Generation NCLEX (NGN).
  • Behavioural test (Objective structured clinical examination) OSCE.
